No resolution to an overpayment refund.
AMR billed and received two payments of over $5,000 for the same service. Despite multiple calls to their overseas customer service, no one could provide an estimated refund date. Supervisors were consistently unavailable, and there was no U.S.-based customer service line available to receive calls.
User's recommendation: Call the Better Business Bureau or get an attorney. AMR customer service is a total fail!

Their billing department is incompetent at best. They used a generic code for billing.
My insurance company needed a specific diagnosis and they refused to change the diagnosis code to get paid. Yet, they expect me to pay out of pocket. Do not use this company for anything.
My insurance company stated they could call them, and they refused to do this. This is not the kind of company you want to deal with.
- No pros
- Billing dept is at best incompetent
Preferred solution: For them to do their job although I doubt they know how

Verified ReviewerDangerous Driver on my street
We were coming home from shopping in murderous traffic today around 7 pm. We came down East Hampton St close to where we live beyond the devonshire ghetto apartments where your driver was stopped.
We proceeded to pass him since ourentrance was up ahead to go to our apartment the one after devonshire. My wife was driving probobly 15-20mph. When we got to our opening there was a mustang pulling ou of the drive blocking our way, so we had to stop to manuever and avoid/wait for the egotistical mustang drive to get out of our way. Simultaneously your drive came up to our *** and nearly crashed into us.
instead of going around like a normal human being. We werent going to sit behind him on E Hampton St and wait forever, Can't reAD HIS mind Either! Wantng yo get home we did what we did and encountered a very dangerous driver less than a quarter mile from home. You knowe what they say?
Do you? Accidents happen less than a mile from home. Bad ambulance driver check your records and then retrfain the dummy!! I know city hall, you cant let this go!!
Ha Ha. Your *** is grassed!
Do something. Unless you were the dim bulb that trained this *** monkey

Verified Reviewer |Surprise Billing - Out of Network - Stay Away from AMR!!
I've contacted their OUTSIDE THE USA Customer Service on multiple occasions and they all say that I owe the money and there is nothing they can do. Their billing system is so screwed up that they initially billed Medicaid (I'm a 29 y/o working professional) and after they rejected it several times, they started billing the Colorado State Medicaid Program, which also rejected it several times.
After I gave them my insurance information, they sent me several letters stating that my insurance company would mail a check to me and then I had to send the check to them??? With over $1,000,000 in medical bills, it's strange that they are the ONLY company telling me that I should receive a check, which I haven't.
I had my Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance card in my wallet at the time of my accident, so there was no reason that they should have billed anyone other than Blue Cross Blue Shield. This delayed my billing for weeks and weeks and added more stress to an already stressful situation.
I had no opportunity to check to see if the ambulance was in network or out of network with my insurance company because I was unconscious at the time. I spent seven weeks between three different hospitals and was recently discharged. I am working to pay all my medical bills and discovered that AMR is out of network for my medical insurance company, Blue Cross Blue Shield and they are trying to hold me responsible for $1821.00 for my ambulance ride on 11/26/23 after my insurance company already paid them $1033.94. Additionally, when I was discharged from Boulder Community Hospital, I was transported by ambulance to Craig Hospital in Englewood, CO.
AMR is trying to hold me responsible for $2211.51 for that ambulance ride after my insurance company paid them $679.45. I'm facing over $1,000,000 in medical bills and my health insurance has a maximum out-of-pocket of $6000 per year. Because my injury crossed over from 2023 to 2024, Im on the hook for $12,000 as my share of my medical bills. The monies that AMR is trying to hold me accountable for are over and above that $12,000 and total $4032.51 themselves.
This is a perfect example of a company taking advantage of people in their weakest moment when they have no choice in which ambulance services are called and then they are stuck with thousands dollars in medical bills! AMR has refused to work with me up to this point and says that I am responsible for the full payment.
Every single person that Ive spoken to from AMR has been located outside the United States, which makes them very difficult to understand because of their thick accents and their lack of understanding of the American medical system. This has only served to exacerbate the stress and anguish of this situation.
- Customer service all outside the usa
- Surprise billing
Preferred solution: Price reduction
User's recommendation: Call Any Other Ambulance Service Besides AMR!! Surprise Billing!!

Verified Reviewer |Bills for service pm 1/29/23....paid, but STILL receiving bills
We started receiving statements within a couple weeks of service...an ambulance trip to the hospital following a fall... Our insurance paid the bill as soon as they received it..
The insurance is MASA. They immediately called us to say the bill had been paid, then directly after, sent a copy of the original bill and a photocopy of the cancelled check. The check was signed by your company,, directly to a deposit. We thought all was good.
IMMEDIDIATELY, we started receiving MORE statements, saying we still owed you money. We have called your office several times, sending YOU copies of the cancelled check, talking to the billing department, but statements still continued to come. FINALLY, we started being deluged with texts and emails from a law firm saying we had been turned over to collections. We immediately sent that firm ALL the proof papers...original bill, check, etc., along with a letter that explained everything and asking them to drop the claim against us, because we owed nothing.
All their texts and correspondence stopped.
Now...months later, we are AGAIN receiving statemenst from YOU saying we have not paid our bill. I am positive that if you will check your records and calls that I we have made to you, you will see that this HAS been taking care of...MANY MOONS ago, and all this mess needs to STOP!!!
Sent me to collections without warning me.
Tried setting up payment plan with AMR, but could not agree on one that was affordable for me. Made a partial payment and was saving money up to make another payment.
They kept sending me text messages saying I was late and then without warning without a notification or anything they sent me to collections.
EMTs on the rig were great. Theyre willing us to work with a customer is terrible.
User's recommendation: Beware if they’re billing Office.

Verified Reviewer |Incompetent medical response, false accusations, resulting in tense of thousands of dollars and charges. Ultimately proven innocent without recompensation.
The ambulance driver, I cannot comment on. The EMT in the back of the ambulance, was profane (including *** *** and a*****e) and made entirely unfounded accusations; he was also belligerent. He accused me of things I was not guilty of. He encouraged the police to investigate things that I was not guilty of. While I was ultimately proven innocent, I incurred more than $11,000 in legal fees and a close-to $8000 bill from AMR for the privilege. I was involved in a multi car accident, I was not placed in any restraints or braces whatsoever until I arrived at the hospital very far from the scene of the accident. The nurse at the hospital was horrified that I was not in a C collar, never mind a torso brace.
The EMT that rode with me in the back of the ambulance accused me of horrible, felonious things that were entirely untrue. Evidence has ultimately proven that this was untrue and that I was totally and completely innocent, but I went through over half a year of legal trouble that is still ongoing because of this gentleman false accusations. I remember him screaming at me youre drunk, or youre on something! over and over again. I was not drunk. I was not on anything. I was entirely sober, under the influence of nothing.
This EMT, employed by AMR, has ruined me, basically entirely. To be very clear, no officers whatsoever on scene, nor did any other EMTs suspect that I was under the influence whatsoever, only the one EMT that rode in the back of the ambulance with me, he is the one who convinced the CHP to come back to the hospital and ruin my life.
I am devastated financially, reputation-wise, and I barely managed to save myself legally. I was charged with crimes, that I was innocent of. My license was suspended, when it should not have been. This wats entirely based on the word of the EMT that rode in the back of the AMR ambulance with me and yelled at me the whole time and failed to provide proper medical care.
User's recommendation: I would genuinely bleed out on the sidewalk, before I ever got into another AMR ambulance. You have the right to refuse service from any EMT trying to help you, if it says MMR, anywhere on their clothing, tell them to leave you alone.
To warn others
When I telephone 911 on march 29. Not only did the ambulance drive past my house they turn around and pull up while I'm telling them to hurry up as my husband was having a hard time breathing they both looked at me like it's not that big of a deal and continued to move slow as they were discussing something .when I saw the male driver trying to give chest compressions it was all wrong he was standing over my husband barely pushing down on his chest.the woman was at the truck getting the right equip.?? By than it was already 5 min.i new .these EMTs were like working their very first day or something, they acted as if they didn't know what to do.i could not believe it.i wouldn't call amr if I were dead f them.

I wouldn't call them if i was dead
I called 911 and an ambulance shows up and drove by the house.when they pulled up they were moving slow and confused about whatever.they had to go down to their ambulance 2 or 3 times because they grabbed the wrong equip.by than my husband was dead.they gave him chest compressions standing up over him?? Go figure.no feelings of any sort of compassion from them cold hearted people.

Verified Reviewer |Billing issues
AMR has been provided my insurance information 6 times. I have an email from them stating no active bills dated February 22 2024 for service on 16 January 2024.
Yesterday I received a bill stating my insurance says I am not a member of the insurance they billed and I owe the full amount. I called and was advised that Medicare had refused to cover me. Hilarious! I am not old enough for Medicare and have provided the information to my Cigna Global Insurance 6 times on previous calls.
I was told ( 7th time now) that they will send the information on to billing and get it billed correctly. My insurance company has verified that AMR has never not once contacted them about anything. We REFUSED AMR at the hospital but the hospital stated they REQUIRE we use AMR. US medical system is a complete scam.
I am back in my home country for 2 months now and dealing with last minute " contracted but not hospital provided" bills that small companies not part of the hospital try to bill me for. When I point out they are sub contracted to the HOSPITAL and I didn't request an or agree to their services, they say we'll it's your bill.
F^ck the US health system. It's part of the reason we moved to a new country.
Preferred solution: No payment by me of their spurious billing and apology for chronic incompetent billing
User's recommendation: Refuse AMR at all costs or FORCE the hospital Tobe responsible to their subcontractors.

It is unfortunate the incident straddled two calendar years. I have no idea on the rules for emergency transport.
However, you evoke no sympathy at all when you dramatically state “I’m facing $1,000,000 in medical bills” before later explaining your max out of pocket. Good luck in navigating this, but being untruthful is not a good look.
